The St. Kate's softball team was eliminated from making the MIAC playoffs when they lost lost 14-3 and 5-1 to #21 Gustavus. The Wildcats are now fifth in the MIAC at 10-10 with two games remaining.
The Wildcats offense was held in check by Gustvus' outstanding pitching staff, as they managed only five hits in the two games.
In game one St. Kate's had three runs on three hits, getting RBI's from Lisa Jacobs, Jessi McGehee and Ann Schmitz. While the Wildcats were struggling to hit the ball, the Gusties were red hot. The Gusties scored four in the first and three in the second to take a commanding 7-1 lead. They then tacked on six runs in the sixth to pick up the 14-3 win.
Game two the Wildcats kept the Gusties offense in check in the early going, but were unable to generate any offense of their own. Gustavus put up three runs in the third inning to take control of the game and pick up the 5-1 win. St. Kate's managed only two hits in game two.
